GN Solids Control provides efficient and safe solutions for the treatment of mud generated on site during infrastructure construction.

Founded in 2007, GN Solids Control focuses on separation equipment, including solids control hardware, industrial decanter centrifuges and waste management supplies. The company has obtained more than 20 separation equipment patents, and its products are exported to 80 countries around the world.

GN is a trusted partner in waste management innovation. As a leading supplier of hydraulic pump mud treatment systems, GN has designed and manufactured a series of waste management systems for hydraulic pumps and directional drilling mud.

GN products have professional features, including a complete set of turnkey solutions and modular systems that can be installed and moved quickly, while the four-phase mechanical separation can provide operators with better results.

Their advantages include direct access and simple operation, while the benefits include saving money and water resources, and the product inventory is supported by evidence. Customers in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States are very satisfied.

With the rise of land development and the rapid evolution of the urban environment, there is an increasing demand for innovative waste management solutions. Hydrovac is becoming an increasingly popular solution in civil engineering and infrastructure construction, and it is also the preferred method of pipeline installation.

Mud is a by-product of the hydraulic excavation process. Composed of water and solids, due to its weight and solid/liquid composition, it is difficult for operators to dispose of it in a landfill.

The thick mud of stagnant water is bulky due to its large volume and weight, and landfill sites are increasingly reluctant to accept bulky waste. Landfill waste may also have legal and environmental issues.

GN produced a closed loop system to recover solids and reduce water consumption. The purpose of this system is to convert environmentally polluting mud into reusable soil and clean water.

GN's mud treatment solution is different from the traditional "take-make-waste" model. It participates in the circular economy by completely removing waste and converting it into usable products. Treating mud in situ eliminates the risk of having to transport potentially toxic substances, and GN's effective dewatering solution allows recycling of reusable materials.

The mud treatment solution uses solid-liquid separation equipment to treat the soil or mud produced by hydraulic or horizontal directional drilling (HDD) projects. It produces a reusable building material and discharges clean, reusable water.

The solution is non-destructive and precise, using pressurized water and industrial strength vacuum. When pressurized water breaks down the soil, it creates a mud, which is removed into the trash can by a powerful vacuum.

Hydrovac trucks collect aggregate base materials and soil materials by vacuum. The company's standard Hydrovac mud separation system generally includes peeling vibrating screen, fine vibrating screen, desilter and decanter centrifuge.

Vibrating screen (equipped with different sieve holes for separating various particles), desilter (for separating fine particles) and decanter centrifuge (for processing mud into clean water) all separate solids from the water and separate them Choose particles of different sizes.

GN's mud treatment solutions will not pollute the environment. By converting waste into usable water and soil, revenue can be generated by selling separated usable by-products. Up to 85% of stones, sand and silt can be graded and recycled and converted into profitable building materials.

The following are the main processing components of the GN separation process:

The receiving hopper allows two hydraulic trucks to be dumped at the same time without waiting in line. The exposed screen fixed on the top of the hopper prevents large rocks or debris from falling and passing through the automatic gate valve, while the high-pressure flushing nozzle around the hopper prevents it from clogging.

The mud first falls into the GN coarse vibrating screen, which is equipped with a long screen plate, so that the mud has enough time to stay on it. Large particles such as gravel, pebbles or aggregates are removed and then conveyed by a conveyor belt.

A VFD submersible pump sends the mud through the coarse vibrating screen to the GN double-layer fine vibrating screen. By using a large mesh screen on the upper layer and a small mesh screen on the lower layer, the GN fine vibrating screen processes the mud twice and removes sand.

The GN desilter uses multiple 4 inch (101 mm) cyclones to process the liquid from the GN fine vibrating screen. Supplied by another submersible pump, the desilter can recover most of the solids larger than 25 microns. The GN ViST unit can be provided as an optional enhanced separation unit to recover more than 10-15% of solids.

As a key processing equipment, the GN decanter centrifuge runs at a high speed to remove solids larger than 2-5 microns. Due to the different density, the rotation direction of the centrifuge drum and the propeller are the same, but the speed is different.

The solid is squeezed into the outer and inner ring of the drum and pushed out from the solid discharge port, where a tungsten carbide insert is used to prevent long-term wear and the liquid stays in the center before flushing from the discharge port.

In order to obtain better processing performance, a chemical dosing device can also be used to send the flocculant together with the slurry into the centrifuge. All these components are designed into a compact modular structure, which is convenient and quick to connect and relocate. The working parameters can be easily changed in the centralized control system, and alarms can be monitored through the human machine interface (HMI) screen.

GN's mud processing does not require excavators to reload the mud from the mud pit into the processing system. The system is simple in design and easy to use, requiring only two operators on site. The company's processing solutions save operators time, money, and the need to store redundant equipment.

In general, GN's mud treatment system enables customers to better control their waste, provide more sustainable mud treatment methods and reduce treatment costs.
