Anyone in law enforcement or in the armed forces understands that, in some cases, body armor can be the difference between life and death. Although the breastplate is designed to protect men and women, it does have some shortcomings in protecting female officers. Simonette Lanier is the founder and creator of ArmHER Ballistic Breast Plate for Women. She believes that women need protection when performing tasks. With more than 15 years of law enforcement and private security experience, she set out to make breastplates suitable for women.

The ArmHER chest plate is a sturdy bulletproof plate that includes a semi-circular protrusion to accommodate the breast of a female wearer. It is made of boron carbide ceramic and measures approximately 10 inches x 13 inches, including trimmed upper corners. The strategically positioned protrusion extends about three inches, making it suitable for the board carrying bag of a standard bulletproof vest.

This simple modification of the male breastplate eliminates painful breast compressions, makes breathing easier, and does not restrict the movement or activities of female officers. The board ensures that the vest is more comfortable because it conforms to the contours of the female body. In addition, the ArmHER breastplate does not require separate accessories, it can be made into medium, large and oversized.

The design of the breast plate allows it to be comfortably aligned with a woman's breast, thereby reducing discomfort. During the development and design phase, Ms. Lanier met with a number of female military officers to find out which aspects of the current breastplate they most disliked. The first complaint is that the chest plate puts pressure on their abdomen because it cannot hold their breasts. The ArmHER breastplate is comfortable and encourages women to comply with the professional requirements of their jobs, while providing life-saving protection in hostile situations.

As the demand for modular tactical vests continues to increase, the facts show that women need to have body armor that can meet their needs. ArmHer women's breastplates are at the forefront of making body armor to meet their specific needs.
