As winter approaches, it is never too early to act in advance under snow, melting, icing, and all conditions that are unfavorable to the driver. Preparing customers before the onset of winter means they have the best opportunity to travel safely, especially during peak periods. Although new tires, fully charged batteries and new oil changes will keep drivers on track, they will not be ready to go on the road without a clear front view.

Safe winter driving starts with wiper maintenance. After all, when visibility is affected, the only place the driver can go is to get back into the car. Speaking of wipers, ANCO has the answer. Here are some tips you can pass on to your customers to identify and prevent wiper accidents this winter.

Discover the three Ss. Next time your customers turn on the wipers, let them notice if there are any streaking, jumping, or cracks. Wipers in good condition can easily clear the entire field of view on the windshield. If the wiper leaves stains or some part of the windshield is missed by the wiper, the blade is likely to be blocked or damaged.

Observe carefully that customers don’t have to be professionals to find wiper damage, but if they know what to look for, you can be a professional. The rubber blade should rest firmly and completely against the frame. If you can see any cracks, tears, or scratches, it's time to look for alternatives. Wipers designed specifically for snow and ice protection can provide your customers with extra protection in harsh conditions.

The wiper that resists icing and freezing cannot provide a clear vision under any circumstances. Fortunately, the driver does have some options to prevent the wipers from sticking to the windshield or from accumulating ice. If the vehicle allows, raising the blade is a simple and effective solution. Covering wipers or wiping them with rubbing alcohol are also effective solutions.

Removal of salt and sand Seeing salt and sand roads in winter is a great comfort for drivers. The wiper can't say that. Small particles that fall on the windshield can dry out and scratch the wiper, eventually causing damage. In addition to using a warm damp cloth to wipe the blades, the driver should also develop the habit of cleaning the windshield when refueling.

After the cleaning nozzle is in heavy snow or deep icing, drivers should ensure that their cleaning fluid nozzles are not blocked. If there is no snow covering the nozzle and fluid does not flow out, the nozzle is likely to be frozen. Heating the vehicle for an extra few minutes should solve the problem. If not, you can use a pin to clear the blockage.

Unlike other key components, your customers do not need to know their wipers in depth. Taking the time to make sure their wipers are ready to hit the road means that they will not sacrifice their safety in the future. When your customers come to spend the winter, make sure their wipers are involved in the conversation.
