Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Drilling into concrete can be an arduous task if you don’t have the right tool. Hammer drills are great but sometimes you need more impact energy to work efficiently. Ryobi aims to make the process less daunting with the launch of its 18V One+ HP Brushless compact 5/8-inch rotary hammer (PSBRH01B).

The lineup of 18V One+ HP Brushless Compact tools includes Ryobi’s smallest and most lightweight tools yet they keep an eye on performance. The PSBRH01B rotary hammer uses HP, or “High Performance,” technology to deliver up to 6,200 BPM and 1250 RPM. Ryobi doesn’t specify an impact energy value, but the 5/8-inch designation frames up the parameters for us.

Like we expect from a compact rotary hammer, It offers two modes: rotation only and rotation with hammering. Nearly every compact model forgoes a chiseling mode because there’s not enough power to effectively handle those tasks. A switch on the side of the tool allows you to toggle between modes.

The PSBRH01B rotary hammer embodies the compact designation with a 2.5-pound bare weight and 11.4-inch length. Compared to the P223—Ryobi’s 18V One+ HP Brushless 1-inch model—it’s 43% lighter and more than 3 inches shorter.

Being a compact model, the Ryobi 18V One+ HP Brushless Compact Rotary Hammer allows you to access tight spaces while in use. It’s also a great fit for overhead applications and situations when you need to use one hand.

Expect the Ryobi PSBRH01B to hit shelves in June 2022 for $149 as a bare tool. As usual, there’s a 3-year warranty and you can find it exclusively at The Home Depot.

You probably know a guy that tests the limits of well-worn jokes by holding a stud finder to himself and saying, “beep!” Maybe you are that guy…or maybe I am that guy. Full-size table saw accuracy in a pint-size portable package When I first saw the track that comes with the Ryobi PTS01 brushless track saw, I thought “why did they do that?” The track is only 27.5-inches long. However, you get two of them, and they attach together to become one 55-inch track. I thought I […]
