This "exfoliating brick" not only guarantees your skin the softest, but it is also an absolute pleasure to use.

At T&C, we are proud of our keen eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will take you to an in-depth understanding of their inseparable work.

As a "merry man" of Gen Z, perhaps surprisingly, I am skeptical of Instagram shopping. I tend to avoid the app’s "store" tab at all costs, drastically protecting my algorithm from e-commerce. But recently, I easily surrendered-all thanks to the promise of softer skin. Although the beauty market has become so saturated that even the best hyaluronic acid cannot escape the blame (is skin care jokes popular these days?), body care feels...no one cares. Yes, there are products designed specifically for the body, but you will rarely find products for specific skin problems that only exist below the neck.

A few months ago, when a photo of a bright, foamy, sea-blue soap bar made by a brand called Soft Services appeared on my feed, the situation changed. It is described in the title as a "physical exfoliating brick" (how practical!), and based on a 2-minute study I have patiently conducted, it promises to provide soft skin to anyone. I was impulsive and forced to buy on the spot directly through the app. (For the record, my algorithm does a good job.)

Now, this decision was initially just a dignified retail therapy-it's beautiful! And self-care! And this name is so cute! But allow me to explain how I got here from there, using my baby-soft hands and silky-smooth arms to fantasize about a humble soap.

"Buffing Bar" by Soft Services is a physical microcrystalline exfoliant designed to remove dead skin, unclog pores and release hair that usually causes irritation. It is reminiscent of a psychological picture that is sufficient to classify it as ASMR; the process is too crude to describe, but it is very satisfying to consider. According to Annie Kreighbaum, the co-founder of the brand, the secret is magnesium oxide crystals, which are uniformly ground to produce particles of the perfect size, combined with the formula base to create the ideal proportion of uniform exfoliation.

"Body exfoliants usually contain particles that are too large or uneven (such as salt and nut shell scrubs)," Kreighbaum said, "or very small particles are too low in the formula to produce an even, smooth effect on the skin ." This makes sense, the beauty of the product lies in its simplicity. The sturdy "brick" soap bar can easily control the hardness or softness of your exfoliation, unlike traditional body gels that easily slip off your fingers or are too rough no matter how carefully you scrub.

For hedonists like me, the direct motivation for dubbing is how it feels. "Like a happy bear rubbing its back on a tree", as described on the Soft Services website, this bar saves you from delaying the satisfaction of serums or gels that take time to take effect. Although you will notice a difference after using it once, the longer it is, the smoother your skin will become.

Although the bar promises to eliminate your worries, it will not make you feel orgasm and dry, despite its exfoliating ability. As Kreighbaum told me, the "smoothing solution"—the beautiful blue formula that holds all the crystallites together—is made with aloe vera and Centella asiatica, both of which are tranquilizers. Even on the days when I skipped the post-bath lotion, my skin never felt dry or fragile. This bar addresses everything from keratosis pilaris to ingrown hair, bumps, blemishes and more. al., but perhaps its biggest attraction is that you don't need a specific problem to enjoy it. On the one hand, I find that the skin can always be softer, just like a bear scratching its back, I will never get enough to eat.
